Invoice Template
It is important to have an invoice template ready for potential future freelance work. This is so that you can easily breakdown costs and charge clients appropriately. Most clients need an invoice to determine whether they can afford the cost and for their company records.
In my invoice template, I have included a breakdown of the tasks I would undertake if I was redesigning a website. This is used as a contract that the client will sign to show that they have read and agreed to the work I will be completing.
All tasks would be discussed verbally prior to this document, as projects are bespoke and specific to the clients requirements. However, I decided to show what the likely tasks I would undertake for a web design project would be as an example.
This would look great printed on my letterhead.
As proof of concept, I decided to print my letterhead and re-print this showing what the invoice would look like with my branded design. As I have graphics that start at the edges of the paper, a conventional printer would not be able to print this properly without leaving a gap.
This letterhead would have to be sent to a professional printing company where industry printers could print this without reducing the size of the document. As you can see from this image, I printed the letter-headed paper with print marks and folded this underneath to show what the invoice would look like. This doesn't account for the size, so the paper now is not A4.
