Prototyping
Prototyping has honestly been quite a finicky annoying experience.
After using Anima to prototype my design and encountering some problems with the imagery and copy, I decided to use Invision as I had already used this multiple times for previous projects. Annoyingly I came across many problems, which I attempted troubleshoot but with no success.
1. Designs were poor quality
When uploading the mockups at 1x in png format, the mockups were the correct size but very poor quality. Therefore, I decided to upload the mockups at 3x in png format with the hope to improve the quality. Invision can usually scale this down and I had never encountered any problems by doing this before.
2. Designs not importing correctly or attempting to sync
Unfortunately this caused a blank screen when previewing the prototype. When it did load it didn't automatically scale down, so I had to find this setting manually.
3. Scaling down causing problems
Once scaled down, I noticed that the homepage and low FODMAP diet page appeared to be compressed in height.
4. Craft plugin
As Invision can sync to Sketch directly without exporting, I decided to try this method in case there was a bug that I could workaround. I downloaded the plugin and managed to connect it to my Invision account as a new project. When testing this caused the same problem.
5. Native Sketch Prototyping
After trying multiple different ways for this to work, I decided to create a simple prototype using Sketch's native prototyping tools. This was unfortunate as although the prototype worked, more complex tools were not available and there was no way to share this with others via a link. You can share this with other Sketch users using the collaboration tools however this will share your entire document which isn't optimal.
