Tutorial with Steve

Speaking with Steve really helped me in making some huge decisions about my project. This tutorial was especially useful as it confirmed and realigned my thoughts on the course's expectations and scope for the degree project. My initial worry was creating a project that was either too large or small which would result in either an incomplete project or one that wasn't rich enough for a project in final year.

Throughout the course, I have only touched on each area of design. We have learnt a small amount of graphic, interactive, installation, games and website design/development. However personally, I don't feel completely comfortable in creating a large-scale project in an area I have nearly no knowledge of. In essence, this feels like a 'Jack of all Trades, but master of none' type scenario. The only area I am confident with and enjoy is website design and development. I wanted my project to be realistic and completed within the timeframe but aid my discovery of new knowledge. Trying something new seems to be an important aspect of a final year project. Unless you are going into further study, I consider this to be the last opportunity to teach yourself before having a job in the industry.

I've been struggling to decide whether to build a website or app. With Steve's help, I have decided to build a coded website and design a mobile application based on the website. Once completed, I am going to attempt to build the application for IOS and Andriod. This means that if I am unsuccessful with building the app at least I have a completed project and have learnt new skills. I really like the idea of doing both as this will really bolster my portfolio and be exciting to work on.

Now I just need to decide on the content for my website/app.
